In a concerted effort to push world-class skilling in India, government will soon start construction of the Indian Institute of Skills in Mumbai. This is the second IISs being set up following an approval from the Cabinet to set up three IISs in the country, one each in Kanpur, Mumbai and Ahmedabad as not for profit projects on public-private-partnership mode.
Skills development minister Mahendra Nath Pandey will lay the foundation stone of IIS, Mumbai on Wednesday.

IISs, Mumbai will be set up at the campus of National Skill Training Institute in collaboration with the Tata Education Development Trust (TEDT), chosen through competitive bidding.
“The vision behind setting up IIS was to build world-class skill training centres by learning from and imbibing best practices from internationally renowned existing skill institutions,” the ministry said in a statement.
